Axel's Angel Army

Hi, my name is Tabbetha and I am raising funds to help a special Minnesota family (originally from my home state of Oklahoma!) with medical expenses incurred in the treatment of their son's brain tumor. This family has been an amazing blessing to my family and I want to raise money for their medical expenses through this fundraiser.

Here is Axel's story:

Twelve-year-old Axel Byler of Northfield, MN was diagnosed with a brain tumor in November of 2020. Axel’s medical team at Mayo Clinic determined the tumor was in an inoperable location and that performing a biopsy could pose significant risks. The team monitored the tumor and Axel’s health very closely for a year and a half. In June of 2022, the tumor showed signs of growth and a biopsy was completed, identifying it as a low-grade glioma called pilocytic astrocytoma. Oral chemotherapy was attempted to slow the growth but Axel’s body did not tolerate it. Last September, a port was surgically implanted and Axel began a year of weekly intravenous chemotherapy, along with continued MRIs and physical therapy sessions.

Axel loves to be moving, whether it’s his body or motor driven! Before the diagnosis, Axel had been very active with his Northfield youth hockey teams and other sports. Due to extreme fatigue, he has not been able to compete at the level he is accustomed to and attends school half days.
