axel will be hospitalized for the next month with mom and dad switching off during the nights. Axel will be doing treatments for the next two years. Please help in anyway you can ❤️

Just when life was running smoothly, we were thrown a curve ball. Monday morning, Axel had his 2 year check up. Later that night our pediatrician called saying we needed to take Axel into the hospital to run more test since he showed abnormalities in his blood. The doctor ordered a blood sample that morning to see if he had any signs of anemia. I thought that it was dumb and almost skipped it but I’m grateful for a prompting that told me just to get it done.
After blood tests, a spinal tap and a bone marrow biopsy, we now know for sure that he has B-Cell ALL Leukemia.
He never showed any symptoms so if it wasn’t for that simple blood test for anemia we would have found out much later. We’re so grateful for the kind nurses and doctors helping our little man get better.
All we ask right now is for prayers for Axel. He’s a tough little man and I know we can get through this. ❤️ -mama bear aka JoLee Mertz
