Axel has cancer. He is a registered service animal

Hello loving community. Yesterday, the 14th of July, my sweet baby boy was officially diagnosed with cancer. I had noticed a small yet funny looking lump just behind his knee on his right side. So I made the vet appointment and had a biopsy done at Bailey's veterinarian clinic in Roseburg. Just a day and a half later the results were in. Cancer. So, I took him back in the same day for further testing of his blood and to see if there were any signs of the cancer spreading. Thankfully, it appears to be isolated to just his leg. The Drs and technicians believe that after surgery, he will make a full recovery and live a normal life.

Many of you have met this sweet, intelligent and gentle soul. Very rarely do you ever see me, without him. I cried tears right from my heart yesterday. I am thankful for the staff at Bailey's, for keeping in constant communication with me all throughout the day yesterday not only to check on me but also to feed me words of encouragement and reassurances.

I am making this gofundme, because I could really use help with the current vet bills. This week alone has cost right around $700. Axel is scheduled to have surgery on the 22nd of July, with an estimated cost of just over $900. Plus meds and follow up appointments.

I know Axel has his very own community of love, friends and support. So today on his behalf as well as my own, I am reaching out to all of you for that love and support. I am asking for a little bit more than the estimated costs, as some of the money goes to the gofundme business and also because the costs are only estimates and could be a bit higher, depending on what is seen during his surgery and any other costs that may arise for him during this time.

This dog, is not just a dog. Not to me or anyone that has ever encountered time with him. He is so very special in so many ways. I am given peace of mind simply knowing how loved and valued me and Axel both are in our community.
