Support Ethan's Battle with Leukemia
Donation protected
Hello everyone, we are starting this GoFundMe page in support for Ethan Shadix and his family. Mom and dad; Jessica & Luke, sister Bailey (16), Cady (10), and Evan (8). We have had so many reach out to want to help, and we are forever thankful for everyone who has loved, prayed, and supported them and Mr. Ethan!
On Saturday May 17, 2025, Ethan was diagnosed with a childhood Leukemia (B-cell ALL) at Texas Children’s Hospital. After being transferred by ambulance from Nacogdoches Medical Center to Houston, he was admitted for 11 days to undergo testing, receive blood and platelet transfusions, fluids and has been monitored for several underlying issues not associated with the leukemia diagnosis. He has remained very brave, and accepting of this so far.
What we know so far:
Ethan’s journey will be very extensive for the first ten months and then continue for at least 2.5 years. He will travel the three and a half hours to Houston twice a week for several months, then at least once a week for the rest of the time and could be required to stay close to the hospital for several days to monitor his reactions, fevers and levels until it is safe to travel home.
He will likely not be able to attend school in a “conventional sense” for the next school year and will be limited on what is “normal” for a little boy as far as experiences, interactions and travel.
Over these next few years Jessica and Luke will share the responsibility of traveling back and forth to Houston for treatments and appointments. They are both Ag Teachers in separate districts and will work together to ensure all three of Ethan’s siblings are cared for and supported through this journey as well.
Ethan is a bright and energetic child who brings a light and smile to every room he enters and every person he comes across. He loves playing video games, legos, and games with friends and family. He attends elementary school in Gary.
As you can imagine there is going to be extensive costs for his family to support his treatment plan-Medication, travel/gas, lost wages/income, parking, food, home health services, and special medical equipment to name a few. Currently one medication he needs has a $2K copay.
The family would truly appreciate any support, good wishes, or even a share. We want to thank you in advance for your prayers and assistance during this difficult time.
**For local supporters, we will be setting up a bank account at ETPCU in his name if you would prefer to donate there. We will announce when that is available.**
