My name is Debbie Berard and I am reaching out for help for my Grandson Cooper Alexander Fraser. He was born June 26th 2022 with a Tumor on his head. It is called a Myofibroma, which is a rare tumor that develops in the soft tissue, bones or organs. His is located on his head behind his left ear. It is attached to his skull, which is problematic and filled with blood vessels. He needs to see a specialist at SickKids in Toronto for two surgeries. The first is to block off all the blood vessels and the second surgery is the actual removal of the tumor.
Funds will go towards any medical expenses, a car rental to get to Toronto, gas, parking, food, a place to stay and anything Cooper may need.
Here is his story.....
At 38 weeks pregnant, my daughter found out that her unborn son had a large mass on his head. After needing a C Section, Cooper was placed in an incubator and brought to CHEO, where he stayed in the NICU. It was a couple days before my daughter could see her son as she was recovering herself.
He could not be held, he was on a low dose of pain killers and fed through a feeding tube. At 8 days old, he had a Biopsy, which wasn't too helpful at the time. He had numerous MRIs and lots of blood work. It was 2 weeks before my daughter could even hold him and even then, it was dangerous. After 3 weeks in the NICU, he was transferred to the Pediatric floor, where my daughter had to stay with him, while also recovering from her C Section. He was there for another 2 weeks with a feeding tube and daily dressing changes.
He was released on July 23rd but they stayed at the Ronald McDonald house until the 25th of July to make sure things were ok. He now has a nurse that comes to the house 3 days a week to help with dressing changes and to make sure, there is no infection. He sees 4 different Drs, one from Dermatology
, ENT, his pediatrician and then his family Dr. For his surgeries, he has a Neurosurgeon, ENT and Plastic Surgery. We will not know if it will affect his development until after it is removed.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated by his family.
