I'm Anthony Newbold, Ed. D., the new principal at Bear Creek Middle School. I am extremely excited to start this new chapter of my life. This is extra special for me because I used to be a teacher at this school and I'm returning as the principal. One of our big issues is school perception. There are lots of good things taking place at BCMS but the perception in the community is that this is a bad school. Like any school there are challenges, but so much good goes on here that people have not yet seen!
In an attempt to improve upon the public perception I am working on my school's branding. It starts with the first impression (visual). As you can see by the pictures, the school needs some beautification. The district will take care of some things, but we have to take care of the straw beds, pressure washing, etc.
One of the things I want to do with the money is to purchase some banners with the school crest and mascot on them and hang those from the lighpoles like you see on college campuses. This will help with the overall perception of the building. Whatever is left from that will go to helping purchase some personalized signs in the hallways for teachers. This will enhance the drab look of the hallways and raise teacher morale and student morale as well. These small things are the first steps in helping Bear Creek become the neighbohood school that the community wants their children to attend.
Can you help us? Thanks in advance.
