Kind, loving, happy aren't even the words to begin to describe Christine. 2017 marks her 20th year fighting breast cancer. In years past, we've seen her battle through it without complaint. Her spirits have always been high and sometimes you find yourself wondering, "How does she do it?"
As some of you know, Christine's condition has declined tremendously within the last 8 months. In February she made the hard decision to discontinue all treatments; including yet another experimental study she was trying through a university. Though on her own she maintaines ever so determined and optimistic.
A few days ago, she recieved bad news yet again. Not only had it spread to her brain an stomach, she was now diagnosed with cervical cancer as well.
Anyone that knows Christine knows what kind of soul is among us. To her, others always come first. No matter what her situation, she smiles and is amazingly grateful saying, "Someone always has it worse." Having been a patient in the same stitting room, I've seen this woman befriend everyone she comes across, give the clothes off her back to keep another decent and warm, and secretly witheld a few treatments to help feed a family that really needed it. If this is how she has been sunrise to sunset for the last 20 years in that cold gloomy room, I can't imagine what kind of person she is outside of it.
Recently I learned Christine moved to part time work so she could spend more time with her family and focus on her health. I know she's an incredible mother to an even more special young man. I'm sure we all know Christine will never ask for help. So I, along with some of her cancer collegues, are asking for your help. It's about time she comes first for once.
Our wish for Christine is to help raise some of the funds needed for upcoming surgeries and treatments. Since traditional medicine no longer works for her, holistic medicine is what she's been focused on; much of which is very costly and not covered by insurance.
Please share this to anyone who has come to know this beautiful woman and her family. The world will continue to be a better place with her smile and energy.
