This week, the Asiyah Women's Center received an emergency call that left in shock.

We learned of a heart wrenching case of a seven month pregnant woman in our community - that was forced to sleep outside of the mosque, on a nearby park bench.

Her husband wanted to punish her for being pregnant. She told us, " He make me feel like a committed a crime because I don't want to give up my baby"

She did not want to get an abortion; so as a result, her husband decided to kick her and her two children out of the home.

While this case is enraging, it is not uncommon at all. Every year, the Asiyah Women's Center receives multiple emergency cases of pregnant survivors of domestic violence and/or women who have just given birth. This month alone we received six cases of mother's with children under two who are struggling with homelessness.

Women in our community become mothers and are forced to navigate the difficulties of motherhood - while being eomeless and amidst a global pandemic.

Today, the Asiyah Women's Center is announcing an emergency housing fund. The launch of our very special GoFundMe campaign, is aimed to support the unique needs pregnant women in dire need at the Asiyah Women's Center. In the spirit of compassion and unity, we are coming together as a community to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable mothers-to-be facing unimaginable challenges.

Our shelter has been a safe haven for countless women fleeing abusive situations, offering refuge, support, and a chance for a fresh start. However, for pregnant women, the challenges are even greater. We believe that every mother deserves a peaceful environment and the essential resources to nurture a healthy pregnancy.

With your generous contributions, we can provide these brave mothers with the critical support they need. The Pregnancy Fund will cover medical expenses, prenatal care, nutrition, clothing, and safe, comfortable housing for these courageous women and their unborn children. Together, we can ensure they have the best chance at a healthy pregnancy and a hopeful future.
