Sustainable Eco Artist Residency

Hi! I’m Tiffani Elmore, a self taught multimedia artist interested in the intersection of art, community wellness, and tech. I enjoy experimenting with techniques that emulate water and remind others of the natural world. Much of my work transports the observer to a calm, oceanic destination to help soothe the soul. I also love creating vibrant portraits.
Let me tell you about my current project! I have been researching and practicing methods to produce art in a way that honors my physical body and serves to reduce global waste. I have always loved to tinker with different mediums, but I haven’t always safely experimented with materials. After having surgery due to poor ventilation habits with former materials, I was inspired to find other materials for creating art. In this project, I’m currently creating a specific portrait of Prince with plastic bags that I have collected from folks in my neighborhood, along with old clothes from my sister’s closet (with her permission)
Why Prince? I feel as though Prince has always served as a symbol for me to be authentically eclectic and unapologetically artistic. He has personally inspired me to elevate my own perspective by seeing what could be perceived as hindrances to actually be gifts.
Along with an interest in creativity, I currently serve as a community advocate in various roles to uplift voices of those from marginalized backgrounds and help create spaces for growth. I plan to leverage this experience to help build art residencies and eventually a gallery space in my home neighborhood, which has been historically underserved.
I was invited to teach my methods at the University of Washington. Your funding support will help me with transportation and housing fees.
