Vitiligo

Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease that results in a skin disorder which causes smooth whitish patches to appear on the skin. An autoimmune disease is where the body attacks its own organs and tissues. The white patches of skin can be seen on the face, hands, arms, legs and feet. Often people who have this condition experience stereotypes and stigmas due to their skin appearing discolored in those particular areas. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, vitiligo affects between 0.5 and 1 percent of the population worldwide. The condition is more noticeable with individuals who identify with darker skin complexions, however, it does affect all ethnic groups.

I aspire to raise $2,000 to aide in the research in discovering a cure for those individuals who have been diagnosed with vitiligo to the Global Vitiligo Foundation (https://globalvitiligofoundation.org). My passion for this cure is fueled my own diagnosis of this condition and how it has impacted my life as well as the lives of my maternal family including my irreplaceable late mother. I stand firm in my own validation of knowing and believing I am beautiful in the skin I am in yet I am not oblivious to the fact that there are millions of other people who require a cure for their condition. I compassionately implore you all to search your heart and give what is laid upon it to donate to this foundation to assist those individuals who are seeking and deserving of a cure.
