On December 30th around 9am, my sister Sierra was transporting for work. The roads were awful, and her car slid into oncoming traffic. Sierra suffered minor injuries but was ultimately okay, which is the most important thing. Her car, however, is not. Insurance is stating this is a total loss.
Sierra walked back and forth to a full-time job, including during the whole winter, pulled overtime, built her credit from nothing while being a full-time mother to 4, in school for her bachelor's degree full-time at the same time just to get this car that's now a total loss. This car was purchased in March. Due to what is still owed, insurance will pay the cost of what the vehicle is worth, and her gap insurance will pay the remainder. Although that leaves her debt-free from this accident, it also leaves her and her 4 children without a car.
Sierra's job requires her to have a vehicle. This is a job Sierra worked really hard to get and is beside herself about losing. Sierra has chronic health issues, as does her youngest daughter, that require medical specialists in Rochester and regular visits for monitoring these conditions.
Sierra is the strongest person I know. I've watched her overcome the hardest battles, escape an abusive relationship, and turn her life into something so purposeful. Sierra pays it forward any chance she can, from just checking on people to paying for a mom's groceries with her last $100 to paying to get an almost complete stranger's car out of a tow yard. Sierra takes from what she has to give to other people. No matter how much the world has taken from her, she still finds it somewhere in her to keep giving. Now she won't ask for help from anyone because she feels as though everyone has done enough for her or that she doesn't deserve it, but that last part is very untrue. She deserves peace of mind more than anyone I've ever known.
Sierra is the type of person to find a loose dog's owner, make sure that dog is returned to the owner, and then make sure to feed the dog treats every time she sees the dog. Sierra wouldn't just do that; Sierra gave any dog treats when they were allowed. Sierra pumps gas for her elders. Sierra made hundreds of bags of Christmas candy and Christmas cards to hand out to complete strangers last year. She did the same thing for Valentine's Day this past year. Sierra donates EVERYTHING if she can, and she puts thought into it. She doesn't just donate to large donation chains; she finds the people that really need it. Sierra makes people feel special by just talking to them when no one else will. I watch her pull her hair out caring for other people without catching a breath. I watch her be the most loving mom, and I experience her being the best sister anyone could ask for. She is constantly trying to give others hope; now I am trying to give her hope.
I am asking on her behalf for some help to get Sierra and the 4 kids a new car.
If you are able, even a share helps.
Anything helps.
The gratitude is endless.
