On July 21st, David was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. At this point, the cancer had already infected his lymph nodes. Several suggestions of treatment were made (chemotherapy, radiation and a clinical trial treatment) but the Oncologist decided to start David on a 3 week chemotherapy treatment to help slow the spread of the cancer.
David knows the only cure for him is a miracle. He is a loving husband and a caring father and grandfather. This past year, he celebrated his 40th anniversary with his wife. He also traveled up north for a family wedding where he was able to spend time with family he had not seen in many years. He is proud of his two sons and glows with pride at the thought of three beautiful little ladies that light up their Pappy’s life.
He is commited to his job of many years at Alvarez Plumbing Company. His dedication ran 24/7 and keeps the heart beating at Alvarez Plumbing. His work family is just as important to him as his own blood.
He is the sole provider and is finding it more and more difficult to continue working and live his normal life style. With all the heavy thoughts, his main concern is how to provide for his wife and family in the future.
