Anyone who has ever visited the chiropractic clinic before has no doubt seen the “true beauty” in this woman. Emily is a faithful chiropractic assistant who has dedicated 30 years of her career managing this clinic. She is a one girl show! She, not only prides herself on making sure the office runs like clockwork, but also on providing excellent care and support to the patient's needs. Emily is and always will be a champion of others... always thinking of everyone else's needs and supporting them with love, kindness, encouragement and hope. Her empathic presence is needed as much as the great care you will receive once you become a patient there.
Emily is grateful to have maintained good health for all these years. But 6 months ago, while doing her exercises, she tore her medial meniscus in her right knee. Thinking it was just a torn muscle or ligament, she cared for it appropriately and continued to hobble around in pain waiting for it to heal. After several months, she found it more and more difficult to get up and down out of her seat, and the same with stairs. At times she is unable to ambulate without icing down first and walking with a limp. Her activities of daily living were diminishing. She saved enough money for an MRI. The images revealed a multidirectional tear of the meniscus and a large bone spur on the side of her knee. Both have to be repaired and removed.
Unfortunately, like so many people, Emily has been unable to keep up with the rising costs of living, and the enormous amount for insurance premiums. She is just 16 months shy of having Medicare benefits, so she will have to pay for her medical care on her own. The costs will include:
• Consultations and diagnostic tests
• Orthopedic specialist fees
• Pre-surgery EKG and bloodwork
• Surgery Center fees
• Anesthesiologist fees
• Knee brace and fitting fees/crutches/walker
• Pain medication and antibiotics
• Post-surgery physical therapy
We would like to get together and return the love and kindness Emily has so genuinely given us over the past 3 decades. We have witnessed her encouragement, support, hope, generosity, love and kindness. She is a true gem of a friend.
An ancient Proverb sums her up:
"A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping and with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away".
Kindness DOES matter. Your donation in any amount is greatly appreciated. The clinic and community would not be the same without her daily acts of kindness. Please help this true champion!
