Story written by Michelle Nesbitt and family:
A couple of months ago, my brother-in-law Darrell David was experiencing debilitating back pain and shoulder pain. Within a month we found out the news he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, which is a rare form of blood cancer. This form of cancer eats at the bone which causes weakness and breakdown.
Darrell has spent 48 total days in and out of Mercy hospital in Rogers treating his multiple myeloma in the past two months. With this being said medical bills are something that are starting to pile up. His kidneys have failed completely, and he is currently receiving dialysis. Darrell is also currently taking different treatments to try to slow the cancer down. Treatment along with the expense of travel is a heavy burden. Due to COVID precautions and Darrell's compromised immune system, Janet is the only one allowed to accompany him to treatments.
Darrell has been married to my sister Janet for 45 years. He has one of the biggest hearts of anyone that I know and always has been a cut up! Darrell and Janet have a wonderful son, Michael and two grandchildren Cooper and Cash. Darrell and Janet have added two loving bonus grandchildren by marriage, Talon and Mackenzie. He enjoys cheering on the Blackhawks, fishing, and hunting.
Janet and Darrell are private people and were reluctant to accept help. Financial burdens should be the least of their worries during this difficult time.
I recognize that $5000 is not going to cover all of their needs, but I hope we can come together as a community to help in any way, just as we know Darrell would do. In order to raise money we would have loved to host a golf tournament, bake sale, or fishing tournament, however due to COVID and Darrell's already compromised immune system we believe that at this time we are unable to do so. In addition, Darrell is a person of faith and welcomes your prayers.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful donations and loving prayers!
