As you already know, I have been involved with Bottles for Poverty (wwwbottlesforpoverty.org) for over three years. I founded the organization with the idea of reducing poverty in developing countries through the provision of education and basic necessities such as water and latrine. Our simple, but powerful idea of collecting recyclables to raise funds has helped us realize our first goal of building a school in Ethiopia.
In December 2013, I was fortunate enough to participate in the construction of Bottles for Poverty's first school in Gondar, Ethiopia. Helping with and overseeing the construction of the school was simply fulfilling and exciting. Currently, the school is serving 200 impoverished children of Ethiopia. The joy and gratitude of these children has given me the energy and motivation I needed to keep assisting poor communities around the world.
Since the construction of the school, Bottles for Poverty has been able to raise the $3600 needed to build a well for the school. The well will be implemented by our partner organization, JDC. The construction will begin late-July and will be completed in September.
As our first project, I am planning to travel to Ethiopia to help and oversee the construction of the well. To help me pay for airfare, I have started this gofundme page. The $2150 I hope to raise will be used to pay airfare to and from California to Addis Ababa. In addition, it will cover the cost of round trip airfare from Addis Ababa to Gondar as well. I would like to ask for your helping hands to fund my volunteer trip to Ethiopia. I will make sure to volunteer longer hours and pay it forward:) Thank you for reading.
