In the beginning of August, almost a year to the date of my children losing their father to cancer, I was diagnosed with renal cell (kidney) carcinoma. Two weeks later my femur would break and we would discover that my cancer had metastasized.

Hi, my name is Nicole Bunker, on August 29th I was diagnosed with Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma, just two days after my 55th birthday. The cancer has spread from my kidneys to my lungs, liver, right femur, and left shoulder. I was flown to Billings Clinic hospital for emergency surgery where they would take out the cancerous part of my femur and replace it. This all came as a complete shock to myself and my family, as there were very minimal signs that were dismissed as just a sore back from a long day at work or in the yard.

As a family, we have decided that the best course of action is to seek treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. It is understood that the first treatment is the most important, and I want a fighting chance at preserving some quality of life for the time I have left with my children and grandkids. I will be traveling down there in September to start this journey.
