GOAL
bring an easily repairable battery pack product to market — this fundraiser finances the R&D prototype and certification pathway to get there.
Hi,
I’m Steffen Geissler from Germany. I’m raising funds to develop and test a working prototype of a power-tool battery pack with user-replaceable battery cells — as easy to handle as batteries in a TV remote (but designed for high-power tools).
OUR MOTIVATION
It frustrates us to dump electronics that still work just because one part wears out. We believe people should be able to keep and refresh what they own — not replace the whole thing every time performance fades.
This project is based on real ENGINEERING:
our team has already worked on related IP and proven approaches for high-power contacts without welding.
This fundraiser helps us turn the concept into a validated prototype through design, testing, and iteration.
Most battery packs get thrown away when capacity fades over time — even though the housing and electronics can still be fine.
The GOAL is a pack where worn cells can be replaced by the user without welding, so the pack can last much longer, reduce waste, and save money.
What this FUNDRAISER SUPPORTS:
- Engineering design + prototype builds + certifications
- Mechanical/electrical testing and iteration
- Documentation and regular progress updates
This is an R&D project, so development may require several iterations.
makro WORKFLOW
- Phase 1 — Working PROTOTYPE: prove the user-replaceable high-power cell mechanism works reliably
- Phase 2 — go the CERTIFICATIONS pathway for safe handling (EU/US/CA): UN 38.3 transport + IEC/EN 62133-2 battery safety + UL 2054 (NA) + CSA C22.2 62133-2 (CA) + CE pathway (EU Battery Regulation) + RoHS/REACH compliance where applicable.
- Phase 3 — Product launch path: prepare a direct to consumer DELIVERY (crowdfunding / pre-orders) once the design is validated and safe to produce
I’ll share consistent updates with photos/videos so supporters can follow the build and see progress.
If you support Right to Repair and longer-lasting tools, thank you for helping bring this prototype to life.
