Avoid Eviction due to Pandemic
Donation protected
-Brad and I are facing eviction. Before the pandemic, Brad worked in the transportation industry, which took a big hit relatively early on, and he lost his job. Fortunately, there was unemployment and the little extra that was fortunately provided during those tough times. Unfortunately, if you have ever been unemployed, you will know that what they give you is never enough to balance out an actual wage loss. At the same time, I lost work hours during the same period. The hit was financial and emotional. Those were times of great uncertainty for us. We did not know if we were going to make it.
-During the pandemic, during Brad's unemployment and my under-employment, there were several instances when funds were not paid out on time, messing up our finances. Most of the time, the payments were mainly paid back on time but not without lasting effects. Because of this, some months of rent were unpaid while other months were paid. We did what we could. -There was always this possibility of additional help from the COVID-19 fund, and this gave us hope when times were uncertain. In the end, the fund did help quite a bit. We were awarded some of the back rent paid, but not all of it.
-We have been able to keep afloat for some time now. We are paying rent on time. The bills are backed up, but not in a way that is overly concerning. We just signed a new lease. Everything seemed to be fine until this past Friday when we were told by our landlord that the remaining back rent would not be covered by the Covid 19 fund. The amount we have due is for rent that was unpaid in July and August of 2021. Our landlords, who have been more than accomodating in all of this told us that we need to pay May's rent of $1950, (which we have) and an additional $2,600, which we do not have. We have included a bit more in the fundraising cap because to be honest we need it. What we are asking for will bring us to zero, but it will bring us to a safe place. We just need to get past this one month and everything else will work out. Any help you can give us will be greatly appreciated. It would mean the world to us.
