Rising From The Ashes

I could never have expected the flaming curve ball Life threw at me…

While pursuing a passion of mine, broadcasting a basketball game last Tuesday night, my buddy called to tell me, my home was on fire. My life changed in an instant, and years in the military didn’t quite prepare me for this particular curve.

As a Navy Veteran, I am used to Change, but I’ve never before lost everything I have. I have never had to ask for help – as a Medic, I was the guy who came to the rescue.

Now, everything I owned is gone – what fire didn’t consume, smoke and water damage has. Clothes, furniture, precious memories never to be recovered – it’s all gone. As for a home, I’m surfing my friends’ sofas for now.

And this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do: swallow my pride, stuff down my giant manly EGO, and ask my fellow citizens, Can you help? I’m not looking to get rich, just looking to find a place to live, a change of clothes, and start again.

Anything you can offer means the whole world to me right now, and yes, I’ll gladly accept your prayers – I know ours is a powerful and merciful Lord, and He will use this – and me - to His greater Good.
