Avinelle "Avi" Grace Ousley is a beautiful, sweet, lively 5 year old girl. Avi recently had a lump come up on her head. Her doctor told her mom and dad it should be removed and an out-patient surgery was scheduled for Tuesday, July 17. When the surgeons removed the lump, it was malignant. Avi has been diagnosed with leukemia and has already begun chemo treatment. Within 72 hours of her initial surgery, she had a CT scan, spinal tap, PET scan, bone marrow test and had a port inserted. Avi will have treatment for at least 2 1/2 years and her mom or dad will need to care for her and her 2 year old brother. Avi will not be able to begin kindergarten in the fall and will have numerous trips to appointments.
