Avie’s Scoliosis Recovery Fund

Hi! My name is Chelsea and I’m fundraising for my niece Avie.

Avie is an amazing, active, vivacious 15 year old cheerleader at Mission Viejo High School.

In 2019 Avie started to have shoulder pain. When her momma Jenny took her for an investigative X-ray in early 2020 the doctor found Avie was suffering from Idiopathic Scoliosis, which is a severe and progressive scoliosis.

Unfortunately Covid delayed Avie’s surgery and time is of the essence. The surgery is a spinal fusion with rods. There is a thoracic entry and rib removal. The surgeons have to remove the rib to reduce tension to properly align her spine and to ensure the hardware stays put. Avie needs this surgery or she will lose her ability to walk in the next year, her internal organs are already being crushed. Her recovery will be 6 months long at best.

Avie and her family are kindly asking for any support you can lend as she needs constant care during her recovery so her mother will be out of work.

We need start by providing Avie with:
An adjustable bed and frame
A bathing chair
A lifting chair
Medical supplies we haven’t even anticipated!
