This fundraiser is on behalf of my Pitts and Horton family for our beloved Aunt Avalyn Pitts.

Last year in June she traveled to California to visit a friend from law school... I mean who wouldn’t want to go explore the sunshine and rolling hills of California and visit family all at the same time?!?

 The week of Thanksgiving 2020, no one anticipated that she would have a debilitating stroke which caused her to be unable to return home. All of this was happening while my mother, the youngest of my grandmother's 3 daughters, was caring for my grandma in her home with hospice care. My grandmother, Ms. Hubert Pitts, passed away March 6, 2021.

 Can you imagine the stress and grief of laying your mother to rest and handling all of her affairs and less than two months later you’re faced with this obstacle? I absolutely do not want to see my mom's health decline from the stress. I see my mom struggling to figure out how to get her only living sister back home to Ohio.

 I am making this plea because  Aunt Avie’s friend from law school and his wife are no longer in a position to care for her; he is now dealing with his own health issues (in need of a kidney).

Our family is small, my aunt is my mom's only surviving immediate family member. My mom   is currently in California exhausting her time, efforts and all options for getting Aunt Avie home.

Due to Aunt Avie’s condition (bed bound with a feeding tube) a fixed wing medical flight best meets my aunt’s  needs & it’s  our family’s most viable and timely option to transport her home to Toledo.

For clarity, a fixed wing medical flight is vastly different and more costly than a domestic flight or a medical escort service, It is a private mobile hospital with an accompanying  nurse and ground transportation from bed to bed  all provided. Getting our loved one back to Ohio as soon as possible is paramount.
