Hi, my name is Avery Baker and I am 19 years old.

On Friday December 17th, my mom lost her battle to ALS. She was the most amazing person in the world. A dedicated single mother, my best friend on earth, a phenomenal nurse, a reliable friend and incredible pet parent. This loss has completely wrecked my world. She was my absolute best friend and I miss her dearly, deeply and hopelessly.

She was unconditionally kind, tenaciously giving and had a way about her that made you feel like you belonged - no matter what walk of life you were coming from or going to.

She left behind not only me, an only child, but also 2 dogs and 4 cats, along with a little leopard gecko.

As you can imagine this has been a massive shift in responsibility. I cannot imagine that losing a parent at any age is easy, but at 19 surely feels horrific. In the midst of grieving the greatest loss of my life, I am faced with the reality of not being able to work and having no source of income. I battle with chronic health issues myself, being recently diagnosed with POTS and EDS.

I plan on filing for SSI but as many know that is a tedious process that can take months or even years. At this point I have no other option but to reach out for help.
