My name is Deanna Vander Meer and I am writing on behalf of my best friend and sister Avery Nardone.

On September 27th, Avery had a traumatic kiteboarding accident where she broke her tibia and fibula on impact after landing a 30 foot jump. Both of her bones broke skin, and she dragged herself to shore with her kite. Luckily, her kiting community was right there to help her off the beach and call for help.

She received major surgery shortly after her accident at Maui memorial. She now is recovering in her home in Maui.

A go fund me has been developed in order to help with medical costs of surgery, her hospital stay, and ambulance ride. Avery is someone that gives a lot and doesn’t always ask for what she needs in return. Life is rough sometimes but community is the way we get through it.
