First, thank you in advance for reading this.
Life has not been gentle to Avery Evans. She was diagnosed with Pilomyxoid Astrocytoma (malignant brain tumor) in 2010 at only 22 months old. After 2.5 years of treatment at the skilled hands of St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, she went into remission in early 2013.

Then, once again fate laid its heavy hand on her with recurrence of the same cancer in 2014. After another 2 years of treatment at St. Jude's, she has been in remission since 2016.

On May 30th, 2019 Avery and her family received devastating news that she must again fight for her life with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

Her physicians believe the AML is a secondary cancer triggered by her radiation and/or chemotherapy treatments starting in 2010. AML is a VERY dangerous leukemia to treat.
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is the most common leukemia in children and, we are told, is much easier to treat. By contrast, the treatments for AML will be very harsh. The Dr's end goal is for Avery to have 100% fresh bone marrow, none of her old. She will suffer and this is going to be a long road involving many months (possibly even years) of treatment with hospital stays of up to 4-6 weeks in her first round.
Due to the duration of treatment, Avery and her family have decided to have her cared for near the Twin Cities. They will remain in contact with the St. Jude doctors and they will double check pathology and the treatment path.
The American Cancer Society recently reported cancer patients paid nearly $4 billion in out-of-pocket costs, with individual total costs surpassing $200,000. As their healthcare co-pay will be 20% of the total treatment cost, the out-of-pocket expenses for the Evans family will be staggering.
When people and community work together, united under a common cause, amazing things happen. And what better cause than the love of our children. Avery is our hero and she is a fighter. We are asking you to fight with us.
"How can we help?" --So many are already asking. THANK YOU!
EVERYTHING helps right now. Even just sharing the link to this site with a friend or loved one. Please do share this on all social media!
More than anything, we covet your prayers for Avery and her family.
Donations to help offset the cost of her care are badly needed by the Evans. Her parents are serving as beneficiaries for this campaign. Avery's treatment will take a massive toll on the Evans family financially. Please help love on this family in any way you are able!

Here is Avery's CaringBridge site if you'd like to get notified of updates from her family and/or of her journey since 2010.
