Avery and Taylor: Recovering from Fire Tragedy

Donation protected
On June 21, just days after getting engaged and moving into their new apartment, our dear friends Avery Cheatham and Taylor Prechtel lost literally everything to a fire that started on the roof of their building and ended up destroying the structure.

The young couple had just moved to Chicago from Indianapolis for Taylor's medical residency at Rush University Medical Center; her first day was June 23 - just two days after the fire.

Now, they begin the process of looking for a new apartment, replacing all of their belongings from toothbrushes to furniture and recovering from the shock of fleeing their new home and losing all things practical and sentimental.

We have known Avery and his family since he was a young child growing up in southeast Oak Park. His parents have made "doing good" their life's mission. Both work at regional non-profits and have been incredible, generous neighbors and friends, coaching t-ball and football and supporting their community.

A contribution of any size would do so much to support this loving pair. And if a donation is not within your budget, all supportive and loving energy is welcome and needed.
