Hey, Avelyn here!
It's been a year since I started hormones, my god! Time flies; it's been a hell of a year. In case you've not been keeping up, I recently spend a month in a psychiatric hospital after attempting suicide, and attempted again a few weeks ago. Mental illness is honestly not the one, but I'm back on top now and fighting it.
I've been planning for surgery for months now, researching in so much depth where to go to get the best treatment I really can. It's wild how much sex reassignment surgery varies surgeon to surgeon, and it's horrifying how out of date most practices are. I'm trying to book surgery with Dr Bank at the Suporn clinic in Thailand, for the summer of 2024. I've got my surgery referral appointments this week, and as soon as that's done I'll technically be able to go for surgery!
The thing is, it's still prohibitively expensive. The surgery itself costs around £14,500, plus travel, insurance, and food. The final cost is usually around £20,000.
More specifically, the cost of the surgery is 585k Baht, and 31 nights in the required hotel totals an extra 40.3k Baht. Together these come to around £14,500. The flights are around £600 per person each way, adding another £2,400, and travel and medical insurance for two, adds another £500-1500. With food and day travel for 32 days for two people, this can easily exceed £20,000.
I'm currently looking to start working after spending the last few months recovering, and will be adding to my own pot for this, but any assistance anyone can give me would be so incredibly appreciated. I've set the goal to £15,000 and aim to need as little charity as possible. Every penny raised here is being kept saved for surgery and nothing else.
Anyway, thank you all so much for the support, it means the absolute world to me.
