Help Lisa Claim Victory Over Cancer

Soft tissue sarcoma is an extremely rare form of cancer that affects fewer than 1% of all people with cancer.  In March 2017, Lisa Johnson started to notice a loss of appetite and abdominal discomfort. Doctors eventually discovered a mass in her abdomen, which led to extensive surgery. After removing the 9 lb. mass, along with several organs, Lisa began the process of treating what doctors presumed to be cancer. In January 2018, she was formally diagnosed with Stage 4 soft tissue sarcoma, which has primarily manifested in her abdomen.

Lisa is a beloved wife to Rick, a mother of three successful young women (Joya, Caly and Macy), a daughter to George and Nola, a sister, a friend, and a co-worker.  She is a pillar in the Bartlesville community, working full-time as a registrar at Madison Middle School, a member of First Baptist Church and an active part of managing Bartlesville athletic events. Those of you who know her have surely felt her overwhelming love, compassion and bright spirit. Many of you have graciously inquired how you can help during her cancer journey - here is how. 
 
Over the past two and a half years Lisa has undergone three rounds of chemo, three intensive surgeries and many medical procedures to fight off/stabilize the cancer. While these treatments have helped prolong life, they have had a severe and unbearable effect on quality of life, which led to Lisa pursuing other medical options. 

Lisa was encouraged to seek alternative treatments that are very promising and have had incredible results with other cancer patients. She is currently undergoing therapy at an integrative clinic in California that focuses on such holistic approaches as low dose chemotherapy, immunotherapy, heat sensitive treatments, and whole body healing, among others. With more and more technology-led and research-based advancements in these types of alternative therapies, we are hopeful and excited for a miracle to heal Lisa’s cancer. 

Unfortunately, the medical insurance that has covered Lisa’s modern medicine approaches does not cover these alternative treatments. Many of you have asked how you can partner with us and love on Lisa and her family during this difficult time. At the moment, the two ways that others can help the most are a) prayer and b) financial support.
