Ava is a Kunwinjku girl attending a Steiner School in Darwin since term 2, 2023. Whilst attending school Ava is in kinship care with her little mother/younger aunty and her grandmother, who is also her teacher.

The Steiner rhythm is ideal for Ava. Ava is a gifted artist and musician and daily practise in both these disciplines furthers Ava’s future prospects in these fields. See pictured a sample of Ava’s work on a turtle bone/shell Ava found then painted. Class foci on mythologies, land care, indigenous knowledges and seasonal celebrations are also meaningful to Ava.

The school is small and trauma informed which also caters to Ava’s situation as she is grieving the recent loss of her father. If you are in a position to support Ava’s fees, we would like to send you an update of Ava’s achievements at the end of the year.
