‘Avant-Garde’ - Aliotto’s thesis film
Donation protected
Excitingly, I have been selected as one of the few students that is approved to write and direct a coveted 581 Thesis film, the highest level of shorts made as part of USC’s graduate program. This is a unique opportunity and one that will bridge the gap between the student and professional world, as many of the films go on to have great festival runs.
My film is a 12 minute short, set in the world of fine art, exploring the tension between the financial side of a creative career and the artistic side. It is a tension that artists of all types are consistently aware of, and one that can even resonate in other career paths. I think it is important to constantly question what people’s metrics of success are within creative spaces, and I hope that this film will help to raise this question in a positive light.
At this point in my life, this film represents a huge step forward for me. It is my best opportunity to break into the next stage of my career, to gain some recognition and credentials needed to seriously pursue directing on a professional basis. It is for this reason that I am asking for your support.
If you’ve found yourself here you likely already know me, and about this project. If for any reason you don’t please feel free to reach out directly for more details.
