Please help Rob Recover from PE & Cardiac Event

I would like to introduce you to Rob, the recipient of this fundraiser. Rob is a 38 year-old father, who has spent his life helping people. Rob's most recent job was completing apartment rehabs and and repairs /maintenance for the unhoused, abused and homeless, at shelters and individual apartments for those who are needing a hand up to get themselves back on their feet. After countless hours that he has spent working with such a vulnerable part of our local community, Rob is now in a position where he needs a hand up.

Rob is an incredibly thoughtful and considerate friend and family member, who would go out of his way to help anyone that needed it and always has. His generous spirit is one of the things that made me fall in love with him.

Rob is an amazing father to our 12 year old son, Jack. He is always there for Jack to help him out and support him, always understanding and never a harsh word. He has always been there for me through our entire 15 year relationship.

Rob has never had it easy in life. Both of his parents left him at 2 years old, and left him to be raised by his grandparents. He lost both of the people who raised him, his grandparents, over 20 years ago, when he was just 17.

Please know that he has the most kind and caring spirit of anyone I have ever known.

On March 13, Rob collapsed in our home. He had not been feeling well for quite awhile and a blood clot had traveled into his heart, stretching and causing damage to the right ventricle. He was admitted to VBMC ICU with several  massive pulmonary embolisms. They did wonderful work and used a procedure most often used for stroke patients to try to break up the clots to bring him out of danger. Pulmonary embolism is one of the leading causes of sudden death in the country, and sadly, 1/3 of PE patients will not make it. Rob was very lucky to survive, but unfortunately, Rob has suffered significant loss of heart function; his heart is currently operating at less than 50%, as well as significantly reduced lung function, both of which will take quite some time to heal enough for him to be mobile again.Rob is now home, recuperating, but he is facing a mountain of medical bills, monthly medications costing 1,000, on top of the expense to care for him in our home, as he regains strength in his heart, lungs and gets back on his feet. He is not able to walk yet, and has many doctor's visits ahead. Clearly, working is not an option at this time. I, his fiance,  was out of work caring for our son and Rob, and I am trying to support us all and could use any help and support available. If you are unable to donate, please share. Thanks so much for reading.
