Ava Needs Your Donation Today for Surgery
SAD UPDATE (Sept. 10, 2023)
Thank you to everyone who donated for Ava's care.
Yesterday morning we were thrilled that she was finally feeling well enough to eat. We looked forward to her continued recovery in the intensive care unit throughout the weekend and surgery early this week.
However, yesterday afternoon Ava took a turn for the worse and her systems began to crash. At that point we felt we had done everything we could for this wonderful girl, and we had to let her go.
The money donated raised through Ava’s GoFundMe campaign will cover about half of her veterinary bill, expected to be between $6,000 and $8,000 for 5 days in intensive care.
Your donations gave her the chance to fight to recover and kept her comfortable and cared for in her last days.
I am so sorry to have to share this sad news.
Thank you for being there for Ava when she needed you.

AVA'S ORGINAL STORY (Sept. 5, 2023)
Ava was hit by a car on Aug. 29 and laid on her owner's porch for 5 days until reported to me.
I found a friendly, 5-year-old husky/shepherd with a large open, infected wound and fractured pelvis.
She looked at me so trustingly with her eyes -- one crystal blue. Despite the intense pain she is in she has never growled or showed her teeth to anyone handling her.
Ava knows we are trying to help her.
But we can't do it alone.
Thankfully, a private donor was generous and covered the cost of wound care for her leg.
And, Animal Friends in Pittsburgh is partnering to give Ava a second chance.
Ava is now in good hands at the Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center near Pittsburgh.
Veterinarians say, with surgery, Ava should live a normal life.
But the cost for her surgery and care is expected to be around $10,000.
We need your help to give Ava a chance.
Thank you for any donation you can afford and please share with anyone who also might want to help this nice dog.
Thanks so much.
