AUZENNE IN AFRICA: UT AUSTIN INTERN ABROAD
Donation protected
Greetings Everyone!
I'm Joaquin Auzenne, a current senior in Mathematics and Biochemistry at the University of Texas at Austin.
This summer, I've been given a unique opportunity to intern abroad with the inaugural group of the Heman Sweatt Center for Black Males' Sweatt in Senegal Internship. My role will be as a biomedical data scientist and software developer at Tanél Health, a Dakar-based healthcare company committed to digitizing African pharmacy care and management. This is an exceptional opportunity for me to make a real-world impact, using my interdisciplinary education to improve the healthcare infrastructure in Senegal. Furthermore, it will enable me to hone skills essential for my aspiration to become a research scientist and computational biologist, all while immersing myself in the vibrant cultures and wildlife of West Africa.
While I look forward to paving the way for future generations of Sweatt in Senegal interns, the internship only covers basic living expenses, room, and airfare. Your contributions will help to create an emergency fund, cover necessary medical precautions like antimalarials and vaccinations, and secure the proper resources and equipment necessary for my work and travel throughout West Africa.
By supporting me, you're not only investing in my future and education, but you're also contributing to the development of better African healthcare technology through my future work with Tanel Health.
In appreciation of your generosity, I will document my journey, sharing my experiences, insights, and travels in Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, and Morocco through a dedicated blog. I intend to document my daily interactions with Dakar locals, breathtaking West African wildlife in the Gambia, and even my audacious attempt to ascend the Atlas Mons in Morocco.
Thank you for considering a donation. Every contribution, irrespective of its size, moves me one step closer to seizing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and realizing a lifelong dream!
I genuinely appreciate your support!
With gratitude,
Joaquin Auzenne
