Autumn’s Road to Breast Cancer Recovery
My name is Mike Vertin and I am a very good friend of Autumn. We text often and I always ask how she is feeling. I know in the upcoming weeks she is very concerned about how she is going to make things work financially. I’m trying to raise some funds for my friend Autumn as she will be starting the last phase of her breast cancer journey. She has undergone chemotherapy, a single mastectomy and radiation. Since that time she has been working diligently to get her body healthy enough to have her reconstruction surgery. She has since lost 100 pounds since June, her liver and kidney panels look great and she is finally ready for the 16 hour surgery.
She will be having her first surgery on
March 24th at the West Allis Aurora
Hospital. As nervous as she is, this is
something she wants and needs to give her mental status acceptance of what she has been through. I have had many conversations with her and I can see she won’t feel “whole” again until she has this surgery. So this first surgery is to create a new breast for her using her stomach skin and fat. She will be hospitalized for approximately one week after surgery because this one is very intense and could show many complications. She will then be off of work for an additional 5 weeks without pay. So any little bit to keep her afloat would be appreciated.
Her second surgery will come at a later date after she is healed to match both of her breasts by size and shape. She is also going to have a fake nipple made and attached to her new right breast.
Autumn has been through so much in thepast 3 years, more than most can say they have been through in a lifetime. She has3 children, 2 still living at home. While she recovers, I’d like to give her the ability to rest and heal, instead of stressing about a house payment, phone bills and all theother basic bills.
Please consider donating to help her.
