Hi, my name is Autumn. I was born legally blind (20/400 vision), and while I’ve learned to adapt, life has thrown me challenges that I can’t overcome alone. Right now, the biggest struggles my boyfriend and I face are transportation and housing costs.
Because there’s no accessible public transportation for the blind where I live, I’ve had to rely on Uber. Without a job, I’m still spending about $450 a month just on rides. Before, when I was working, it was nearly $800 every month—just to get where I needed to go. A car would change everything. It would mean my boyfriend could get to work reliably, I could attend doctor appointments, run errands, and eventually start a job myself.
We’re also trying to move from our current apartment, which is $1,500 a month, into low-income housing we finally qualify for. That move will cut our costs and allow us to actually start saving, but deposits and moving expenses are another financial wall in our way.
I also want to share that we are not in debt—we’ve spent the last two years fighting hard to pay everything off. It wasn’t easy, but we did it. We’ve been very careful and wise with our money despite the circumstances, and now we’re finally free of debt. What we need now is just a helping hand to cover the big expenses we can’t quite reach on our own.
My dream is to become independent, not just survive. I want to get off disability, support my boyfriend the way he supports me, and start building my passions—singing and makeup—through social media. I’m working every day to create content and raise what I can, but we can’t do this alone.
We’re asking for help toward a reliable used car and moving costs so we can finally breathe, save money, and build a future together. Our goal is $2,000 which would cover both needs.
Even the smallest donation helps, and if you can’t give, sharing this means the world. Thank you for believing in us and helping us move toward stability and independence. I'm also leaving out pictures of my bf as I'd want to respect his wishes as we do not want to ask for help and honestly I feel slightly embarrassed. Always want to help and give back how I can and I plan on doing so once I can land a job and transportation.
