Hello friends!
We'll get to the good stuff, but first a little life history from this past year...
As most of you know I have been in quite a few bands in the Raleigh area for the past 7 years. My most recent endeavor being the pop duo Season & Snare. We were crushing the music scene last year mostly by way of winning a huge international award known as a 'Shorty Award'. We were up against huge names such as Tom Green and Africa Miranda, but won the title of "Periscope of the Year" due to the amount of loyal fans we gained while on our Periscope journey! This was certainly the highlight of my musical career thus far, and things were looking very good for the future of S&S! We were receiving a lot of local attention, as well as attention from creators of social media apps, VidCon, booking agencies, labels, etc.! All of this to say that it was cut short on June 5th of last year when S&S could no longer keep going as a band.
I have been struggling to find myself as my own musician since the loss of the band, and have been tirelessly working to try and design the sound and style I am as an artist.
Super honest moment coming in 3... 2... 1... For years I have kept myself out of center stage for fear of not being good enough, or not being able to hold my own as a vocalist, song-writer, or performer. Being in S&S pushed me to become better at all of those things. After the band cut ties I knew I needed to take a crack at a solo project, but I also knew that it would take months of planning, courage, heartfelt song-writing, and most of all help from the people who believe in me most!
I've been writing and recording my first single titled, "Something We Weren't Looking For", and plan to release in June. The goal is to release this track along with a music video and eventually an EP which I've been working on as well! Side note - the music video is being recorded in just two weeks on April 29-30th in Slims Downtown in Raleigh.

Side note ... I've already received an overwhelming amount of help and support from some incredible musicians and artists during this process. Their support will not go unnoticed!
Here is a little acoustic version of the song my best friend Kaitlin Grady and I recorded for the Tiny Desk submission.
Finally to the good stuff....
I'm raising money to pay for my music video expenses such as lighting, camera equipment, venue rental, and main actors. The other part in raising this money would be to help fund the rest of the work on my single release such as cover design, marketing, final recording touches, and mastering! One more thing I'd love to do is to be able to order some simple merchandising such as stickers, artist cards, patches, pins, and potentially t-shirts!
I would love for my first release as a solo artist to be top-notch. I'm not really one to settle for mediocrity, and I hope that will shine through in all the work that's being putting into this!
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little freaked out by this, but the only blockades I have to face are the ones I've put up myself
