Story of Jim and Mandy Willette's 12 year old daughter, Autumn: On the morning of 10-17-2019,  Autumn (Jim and Mandy's daughter) saw her primary doctor, who admitted her into the hospital for an infection. After he ran more tests and consulted with several specialists Autumn, along with Mandy, were flown to Sanford Children's in Sioux Falls, SD,  where she is currently in the children's ICU and being seen and treated by a nephrologist. On top of her infection, Autumn has a dangerous form of E. Coli that creates a toxin that attacks the kidneys.
With a lot of fluids and time, the kidneys can bounce back on their own. However, sometimes they need temporary dialysis to help them recover.

On 10-18-2019, Autumn was experiencing tremors pretty frequently,  so her nephrologist did an MRI. The scan showed that the disease that is attacking her kidneys is also starting to attack her brain. The doctor believes they caught this early and they will be giving her a dose of Eculizumab, "the most expensive medication in the world." It is a powerful dose of antibodies that should hopefully stop any neurological issues that could come from this. She will get one dose a week for the foreseeable future.

Today, 10-19-2019, Autumn will be going into the OR to get a catheter in her neck and will start dialysis this afternoon.

Genetic testing will be done to see if Autumn has the rare form of this disease and it will take about 3 months to get results back, but this is the first line of defense to get her better. Please pray that this is not the genetic form and that Autumn will not have long term effects from this.

Autumn is a 7th grader at Lake Park-Audubon High School. She has a big heart, loves animals, enjoys playing volleyball, and is loved by many. She also has an older brother, Jaden, who also attends LPA. Please help this sweet young girl and her beautiful family by praying for fast healing, answers to all health questions, and donating money to ease any financial difficulties during this time. They are expected to be staying in the hospital for a minimum of 3 weeks and while health insurance will cover most of the medical treatments, there will still be extra expenses. Please help this amazing family in any way possible!
