Help & Hope for Autumn Ray Forbush

Throughout December Autumn began to slur and mumble her speech. She had a lot of confusion when she would try to talk, and would stop abruptly mid sentence. Toward the end of the month she became very quiet. Around Christmas time she began to avoid socializing and making any attempt to engage with family and friends. She became very disconcerned with nutrition and started to refuse to eat. Autumn was admitted to Primary Children's Hospital on January 7, 2019. During her first hospital visit which lasted three weeks, Autumn received an extensive amount of testing. After receiving a normal MRI, MRA, EEG, lumbar puncture, EKG, and substantial lab work, it was originally thought that Autumn was suffering from Functional Neurological Disorder. She continued to regress rapidly. During her stay at the hospital, she became non verbal, lost the ability to use her right hand, as well as her ability to walk and write. An NG tube was placed to meet her nutritional needs. After in-patient therapies and procedures proved to be unsuccessful, Autumn was discharged in hopes that an out-patient program may see better results. Following a three week out-patient course of action was unsuccessful. Autumn continued to regress. Autumn was readmitted to Primary Children's Hospital on February 15, 2019. She has been receiving neurological, medical, psychiatric, physical and occupational therapies, as well as Music and Art Therapies. Her original testing showed that she was healthy physically and her brain scans were normal, however, her body and mind have not been connecting properly. She has continued to digress and it was determined yesterday, February 21, that they still do not know what is causing her unexplained neurological deterioration. Her doctors have decided to start all of the testing over again in an effort to find the cause of this horrible condition. If progress does not begin to show, Autumn's parents are likely going to have to travel out of state to the Mayo Clinic in search of a specialist. Autumn‘s mother, Haley Nielson Forbush was forced to leave her job serving special needs children at Monroe Elementary school.
Please help us find out what’s wrong with Autumn and get her on the path to recovery. At this point, her brain will need to be retrained to do all of the things it has forgotten how to do.
-A little about Autumn from her mother-Autumn is known by her family as being the sweetest most kind hearted little soul. Her dimples and smile can brighten any room. She always thinks of others and never forgets to acknowledge a birthday or special occasion. Making other people feel loved has always been her specialty. She loves to draw, dance, sing and decorate. Autumn loves animals. She and her little brother often talk about "being pet doctors" when they grow up. When we think of our Autumn we think of all things good because she is the center of our family, and she brings joy to us all. We miss her sweet laugh, and her loving, caring nature. I miss my sweet girl more than I can put into words. I'd give anything to hear her say "mom."
