Help Autumn recover financially,remain housed after cancer

INTRODUCTION:

My name is Anthony, I am opening this for my Mom who in the last 5 plus years has fought hard to live, first from genetic heart issues, and 5 years fighting Leukemia, very newly in remission. During covid my brother and I, juggled hours to be my mom’s 24 hr caregiver, there was no pay. We survived on her credit, our small wages, and any help we could apply and qualify for.

My moms loss of immune system, due to Bone Marrow Transplant and covid forced many deliveries, our dog was old, (now gone) , required medical diet and treatment, car repairs and maintenance, on very little income as she is on disability.Chemo caused needed dental procedures with no insurance, some becoming now urgent, therapies are pay before treatment, and medicine at pharmacy, cancer drugs are some co pays 125$ , grocery had to be healthy only, protein shakes due to chemo damage in her mouth, costly ambulance rides.

I know that people will want to tell us of services , but please know my mom has an awesome team of social workers, and financial specialist, who have helped her apply and receive all she could. No she does NOT qualify for OHP and food stamps. Bankruptcy is not an option. What we need is this “go fund me “to be a success. My mom’s online presences is small and my brother and I don’t do social media but we are trying to remedy.

"My name is Autumn, I am a survivor of B-cell ALL (acute lymphoblastic luekemia) fighting 2020 through 2025. I had a bone marrow transplant, had a 30 day hospital stay, 9 month isolation in 2021. Im in remission, with no drug therapy for 5 months , a start towards the 5 year mark where we start to say cured. But I’m still being closely watched.

This diagnosis blew up my world. I was already in debt from major genetic heart issues and I am poverty level on disability due to health. It started with a repair to my thoracic aorta, an aneurysm , major open heart surgery 2016 and continued troubles with paroxysmal RVR AFib. Then in 2020 I was diagnosed with cancer, and that put me on an intense, expensive, debilitating path of extreme treatments and therapies. Alone due to Covid no visitors. Limited help.

New Year’s Eve 2024 I finally was healthy enough to go through a heart Ablation in hopes of stopping the frequent A fib/ER episodes. I have had more chemotherapy treatments than I can count, a bone marrow transplant, several blood transfusions, plasma transfusions, Blincyto treatments, physical therapies, cardio therapies, bone marrow biopsies, chemo treatments in my spinal fluid for my brain!! Many heart cardioversion . I live in constant pain, but am alive! Some treatments in my arm 28 days! It was a lot. You operate in survival mode, budgeting and decision making are greatly affected.

I and my amazing team, my social worker, many doctors, my boys and friends, have made it to this point!

The extreme financial toxicity of cancer is a very real issue. It affects all aspects of our lives. Many small donations make big help please share.

GOAL:

The campaign is set at 20,000 that lowers my debt to a more manageable amount. The go fund me” is on auto set for goals first one is 6500.00.

If we are blessed with a miracle that reaches 20,000 {I've seen it happen} most bills will be paid off and payments will be low enough we can survive! Stay housed!!

If by a miracle it goes above 20,000 we will pay the entire 27,000 off. If it goes even higher, then it will be put in an emergency fund. Unfortunately my mom’s cancer is rare in adults, and has a high reoccurrence chance so a safety net would help us take a breath and enjoy the reprieve. Spend time together without debt stress.

CALL TO ACTION:

My mom is a giving person she has worked as a Veterinary technician and animal rescue wild and domestic for years, raised two sons by herself. I grew up seeing her help anyone who needed it, when she became disabled for work she continued to volunteer at an elderly homes teaching art , and helping them gardening, walking their pets. They worked around her treatments and abilities. She volunteered at our school all through our childhood and chaperoned field trips, taught art electives. Now it’s time for her to ask for help.
