Marissa and Austin are both newly wed young parents currently facing a difficult time. On January 18th, 2024, their sweet baby girl Autumn Lynn was born.

It started at 20 weeks, they went in for anatomy scan. The ultrasound tech found fluid around Autumn’s right lung. The doctor advised them to see a high risk OB doctor at that point. The high risk OB doctor seen her weekly to monitor the fluid. At the 34th week appointment they found additional fluid in her right lung and fluid beginning to build in her left lung. The doctor advised her at that point that he was not going to let her go any further and sent her over to Forsyth Hospital for an emergency C-Section. Autumn was born at 8:23pm on January 18th. She was immediately sent to the NICU floor where they intubated her as well as they placed a chest tube to help drain the fluid and placed on a ventilator and oscillator for the next seven days. She was transported to Baptist Hospital by a critical care team on Thursday, January 25th when the doctor at Forsyth Hospital advised that they had done all they could for her there. When she arrived at Baptist Hospital they immediately running scans on her and advised that they needed to do surgery to attach a machine to her called an “ecmo, it was basically helping with her heart and blood oxygen. We were advised after the procedure that it went really well and she was stable. They were able to take her off the blood pressure meds and paralyzing meds that she been on since being placed on them at Forsyth Hospital. On Saturday, January 27th we were advised that Autumn had a stroke on the right side of her brain and any further surgery would possibly cause her brain damage or another stroke. They advised them that she basically would live in a vegetative state. Austin and Marissa then made the decision to not put her through anymore and at 6:12 pm she passed away. the machine that Autumn was on was 5,000.00 a day.

They knew they would face obstacles but were being very hopefully with the power of prayer that their sweet girl would pull through for them. After a lot of medical care and 10 days of unconditional love from both parents, grandparents, friends, and other family, sweet Autumn was called to be home with God. She put up such a fight and her parents knew she was getting tired. Unfortunately Marissa is out of work until she’s healed with no pay so they will be relying on just Austin’s paychecks. Medical bills will be piling up, they have to plan and pay for Autumns funeral, and also allow themselves time to grieve and be together.

This GoFundMe is a way to give to them in their time of need whether it help cover funeral cost, medical bills, or to help with their home bills as they navigate their way through these hard times. Anything is appreciated and Marissa and Austin send their love and thanks to everyone for all the sweet words, prayers, and messages they’ve received.
