Hello everyone. My name is Dan Sherman and I am starting a GoFundMe for my friends Autumn and Mark Valentie. I have known both Autumn and Mark since middle school. Both have been a part of mine and my kids' lives for many years setting up photo booths for my kids' graduations, my own wedding, and volunteering to support youth bowling. Neither have ever accepted a penny in compensation as they just show up to help whenever they can. Autumn has been my assistant bowling coach for the past three years, and I can’t tell you how many years before I was head coach that she has volunteered to help out the kids in our community. Now they need your help… Autumn has suffered from strokes for the past four years going undiagnosed as to what was causing them. She recently has had two strokes and was finally diagnosed with the rare disease Moyamoya. Though I’m grateful that she was diagnosed with the cause that has drastically affected her life for years, it required brain surgery to bypass the area where she was suffering the strokes. This was a life-saving surgery as continued strokes would have killed her. Now she faces a long recovery with a lot of unknowns as to what her future holds. As a head coach and long-time friend, I can tell you that I would not have been able to coach the kids without either of them. I am pleading for your help as I wish I were in the position to provide for them myself as they very well deserve. Of course Mark has no choice but to continue to work as they still have a home that needs provided for. They have already lost Autumn's income while she focuses on recovery, while Mark finds days and weekends to make the four-hour round trip commute to visit. I understand that everyone, including myself, is living paycheck to paycheck. If you cannot donate please share this fundraiser. But remember, a small amount from many adds up to a lot. I recently spoke to Mark to offer anything that I could, and while the struggles they are facing were obvious, he quickly shut me down on offering assistance. With that, I am going to try my best to exclude either of them from this fundraiser until each $1000 goal is met. At that time I will let him know that many people love and care for them, and it’s from all of us that know they need it.
