Twins in need of AAC communication devices
Donation protected
Hi my name is Kristian and I am the older brother of my amazing identical twin brothers José and Marco. They were diagnosed with autism in 2019. Marco was also diagnosed in summer of 2020 with epilepsy.(which he has had a regression in speech since he started having seizures.) my little brothers started ABA, Speech and OT therapy, since their diagnosis and my mom and step-dad have worked tirelessly in order to get them everything they would need for their advancement.
We are a military family stationed in North Carolina away from any and all family members and with limited services and resources for my brothers.
During all their therapy over the past 3 years, as their older brother I have experienced much growth and happiness emerge in their social skills, and ability to share their knowledge but we have also hit a wall with their ability to communicate further and to tell us their wants, needs, emotions and thoughts. This brings them a lot of frustration just for not being able to let us know what they are asking for; often leading to uncontrollable outbursts. Which is very stressful and hard on us as it is much more for my little brothers.
At school they are teaching them to use a specking device that is tailored to their individual needs and we are told it is working out amazing during there speech sessions. My mom have alway tried to use resources provided by insurance but it has been an uphill battle to get the insurance to approve and get these device and an application system combined that would give them access to being able to speak for themselves in their everyday life. They will be able to ask questions, say what they want to eat at a restaurant, express their emotions, participate in conversations with friends, and more. Their world will open up so much!
Our goal with this fundraiser is to raise enough money for Jose and Marcos advancement through their [lifetime] therapy and development.
Any donation will assist my amazing little brothers with a way to communicate.
Anything will help and thank you so much.
We would be able to get them both their individual devices(IPads), the LAMP Words (application) for Life is designed to meet the communication needs of children with autism, a Speech Case that turns an iPad into a powerful communication device for people with speech and language disabilities. The funds will include the following:
•Speech device: $558.00 w/ case x2
•LAMP Words for Life: $299.99 x2
•gofundme fees
