Australian World Junior Athletics Team

Donation protected
Australia’s largest ever team for the World Under 20 Athletics Championships - 60 athletes - will compete in Cali, Colombia in August.

The team was announced  in April and this fundraiser closed on Sunday 8 May, in time for athletes to receive money raised in time to pay for their team levy.

If you would still like to donate, you can do so directly to athletes via their own fundraising pages .

It will cost over $330,000 for the team’s travel, accommodation and meal expenses. Athletics Australia requires the competing athletes to cover this expense and has set a levy of $5,500 per team member. Athletes need to pay this to Athletics Australia by 20 May to secure their place on the team.

This fundraiser has been established by the Athletes Australia Facebook page to provide an avenue for the Australian athletics community to contribute towards the costs for all athletes on the team.

The proceeds will be shared equally across all members of the team who seek financial support via the Athletes Australia Facebook page. This has now been confirmed at 37 members of the team. Out aim was to raise $19,800 in total, which is the equivalent of providing  $550 to each of these athletes (or 10% of the levy they each need to pay).

7News Gold Coast ran a story about this Go Fund Me, featuring Australian 400m champion Ellie Beer, interviewed by Olympic legend Sally Pearson.
