Travelling back from the Banjo Paterson Australian Poetry Competition in Orange, I stopped by Guyra for a walk. I came upon a disused theatre and decided there and then to create "The Australian Poetry Hall of Fame.
This project is assisting to revitalise the small country town of Guyra on the New South Wales New England Tableland. It aims to provide not only employment for the town but also bring in a whole new range of industries based on literature, arts and publishing.
The people of the world will benefit from this project as will preserve and celebrate the languages and song-lines of the original people of Australia as well as celebrate the literary achievements of Australia's greatest poets, living and dead.
These funds will be used to create an Australian Poetry Festival and Competition in November 2023 so that we can pay visiting poets to perform, put on workshops and give cash prizes to poetry competition winners.
Your support is gratefully appreciated and this project will conserve Australian poetic literature for future generations and provide an exciting entertainment and cultural arts venue in regional Australia.
