G'day Mate!
Over the past 6 years, 8th Day Gym has qualified and sent a team of athletes out of the CrossFit Open to compete at the next stage of competition, the CrossFit Regionals, 5 separate times. Here, some of the best athletes and teams in the world compete for a spot at the World Championships: The CrossFit Games. Starting this year (2019), the path to the CrossFit Games will no longer include a regional qualifying event, but will instead be replaced by 16 "Sanctioned events" around the globe. Europe, Africa, North and South America, Asia, and Australia will host these events throughout the 2019 CrossFit season, and the winners of each will punch a ticket to The CrossFit Games. The athletes from 8th Day Gym, with a little help from a dear friend in The Music City, have qualified for the Australian CrossFit Championship, held in Gold Coast Australia! The only US team to qualify, we enter the championship seeded 8th out of 16 teams!
We are now just five week away from our departure date! Our team of four will compete on January 24th-27th alongside some of the most competitive athletes in the world! They would not have been able to accomplish this without the support of their family, friends, and community. With that, they thank you all so very very much!
Getting to this point of qualification was physically challenging. Yet in order to represent their community, as well as their country, they also have a daunting financial burden to overcome - which leads us to ask for your support in any way possible!
Please consider helping the team by making a donation. All funds raised will be used for travel, stay, food, and entry fees to the competition itself.
