My name is Yoann Barelli, I am a professional mountain biker from France living in Whistler, Canada.

The wildfire situation in Australia is beyond devastating and hits home to me personally for a few reasons. When I was 21 I lived in Australia for one year 1/2 and went through a lot; so much of that time shaped who I am now and the compassion I have for people, animals and the planet. 10 years later I found myself travelling back to Australia to race the Enduro World Series.

I feel very connected to this beautiful country and it's amazing people.

When this campaign started:
- more than 2,000 homes have been lost,
- 24 people have died (including 3 volunteer firefighters) and a dozen are missing,
- 6 million hectares of land have burned, and
- half a billion animals have been impacted.

And these numbers are only increasing every day.

So of course, I want to help and I reached out to my friend Petri Miniotas who is a helicopter firefighter and has been fighting these fires relentlessly for the past 5 months. I ask him what can I do to help from the other side of the world?!?! Well, the best thing we can do is donate money to fire departments, animal rescues and other organizations.
