Hello Family and our Family of Friends!
Bristol was diagnosed with autism recently. We have hit the ground running since last year when we had idea that Autism could be a very real possibility. We have had few months with all of Bristol's therapies such as Occupational Therapy & Speech therapies. We've had an Audiology test on her hearing to see if that was part of her set backs of not being able to say the usual "momma" and "dada". We are to soon get her involved with an ABA Therapist and soon to start Special Needs Pre-School in the next 6 months!
We do have concerns with Bristol when it comes to socialization, melt-downs that causes self-harm, and motor skills. Many autistic children face certain struggles some people do not realize.
We recently applied for an autism service dog, and waiting for an approval! At this point the wait list for a service dog is 2-3 years, so by the time Bristol is 5 or 6 she will be meeting her new friend! The sooner we can raise funds the quicker this process will go. Our goal is $20,000, where money goes directly to an Autism Service dog for Bristol.
We would like Bristol to have a service dog because she has difficulties with socializing with other children, and we believe that a service dog will help bring her out of her shell, and help her meet some new friends, as has been the case with other autistic children who have service dogs. Bristol is very comfortable with her family, and loves being with us, and we would like to see this happen with her peers and friends too.
