8 days. Eight days was all God had planned for baby Austin to be on this earth. A precious gift from God, now a guardian angel forever.
Austin Kyle Sharkey was born on April 5th to loving parents, Logan and Lacey Sharkey, and big brother, Tyler. The Sharkey's were officially a family of four and were excited to begin so many adventures. Their family was complete and their hearts were bursting with happiness as they left the hospital with their two precious boys.
A few hours later they were at Children's Hospital and Austin was admitted to the NICU. A couple of days later the doctors confirmed that Austin had a rare, genetic disorder called Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia. With no cure, Austin's mental state continued to decline and his seizures became uncontrollable. Over the next few days, Austin's seizures worsened and he eventually lost all movement and reflexes. His heart rate fluctuated with each seizure and he could no longer breathe without the support of a ventilator.
After seeing his heart rate increase with each seizure, Logan and Lacey were faced with the decision that no parent should ever have to make. Through their strong faith and trust in God's will, they made the decision to give Austin back to the Lord where he would no longer have to suffer and be in pain. That evening they held a small dedication ceremony for baby Austin with family and close friends. The next morning, on April 13th, baby Austin passed away peacefully.
Donations are requested to help Logan and Lacey with the overwhelming medical and funeral costs for their son, Austin. Unfortunately, due to insurance limitations, the Sharkey's are faced with covering the majority of the costs associated with this rare, fatal disease. The costs include a seven day stay in the NICU, numerous medical procedures and tests by medical specialists and funeral costs.
If you are able, please consider giving to this beautiful family. May God continue to bless them with the courage and strength to face each day. And to fill their hearts with joyous memories of their forever guardian angel.
Thank you!

"We thank each and everyone of you for your thoughts, prayers, tears, and fellowship. We ask from everyone that you don't lose your Faith ever. Hold those who you love a little bit tighter! Cherish the time you have with them. We love you all!"
