Austin's Medical Expense Fund

Hello my name is Shannon Ward . I am sorry to ask but I need your help. Not for myself but for my sister and nephew. My nephew Austin Mathews age 14 was born with kidney failure. He has underwent numerous surgeries since birth making his way to the Big one.  A new kidney. Thank God my sister was a match.

On June 23, 2015 my sister Melissa Midgette  gave Austin the new kidney he so desparately needed.

My sister and the kidney are doing well but Austin's body is not healing like it should. Just last night July 23, 2015 Austin sneezed and his insision tore open and his intestines were pushing through the tear. My sister had to rush him to CHKD where Austin had to go back under and have the insision repaired.



My sister is a strong, independant single mother who has worked with children in daycare and the school sytem for over 18 years of her life.  She is a great, caring mother who has been through so much, and now her insurance decides all of a sudden that the doctor who has been treating Austin for the past 10 years is no longer in-network and they will only pay 60-40.  Austin's copay for medications is over $2,100 a month and that was before the BK virus  showed up. One treatment for BK virus was roughly $8,000 after insurance.  He may need up to four treatments.  Add to this the travel expense to CHKD three times a week, her inability to work due to giving the kidney and caring for Austin, plus household bills piling up, things have become very financially strained for them.  If you can afford to help please do.  If not prayers and shares are appriciated.
