Austin McDivitt's Physical Therapy journey

For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Austin McDivitt and in January of 2019, I was in a snowboarding accident that left me paralyzed from the belly button down. Last year, many of you took part in changing my life by giving me the opportunity to receive a stem cell transplant. As of May 16, 2021, I have received four treatments. Each consisting of 100 million new stem cells. In March of this year, I received my fourth and final treatment. Since last year, I have also been able to start going to a new physical therapy office called SciFit. These people that I have come to call family work your butt off, but that is what someone in a position like mine needs to see change. Since starting this journey back in May, I have noticed several improvements in my condition. Those being: the ability to take consistent steps with one leg and the other eventually as well, sensing weight through my feet while standing or walking, more sensation in my lower core/back, some involuntary signals below my level of injury, and being able to, but not consistently, lockout my legs while standing or walking at physical therapy. Though these may seem small, all of these are huge improvements for someone with a spinal cord injury and goes to show that dedication, hard work, and faith will get you further than anyone could have ever imagined. Now, in order for me to continue progressing and using these stem cells to their full potential, I have to keep going to physical therapy. The only drawback is it is not covered by insurance, and I cannot afford it on my own. As of right now, I go three times a week for a total of five hours each week, which costs 1,680 dollars a month. I am asking for 25,000 dollars because that will cover the current cost of physical therapy for another year and allow me to use a machine called a lokomat for fifty sessions. The lokomat is a machine that enables someone who has had a neurological injury to take the perfect steps allowing them to form new Nero pathways to reconnect to the muscles below their level of injury. Many of you have already changed my life in so many ways, but if you could please consider continuing to keep me in your prayers and donating to this go fund if you have the opportunity, it would mean more than you'll ever know. Thank you all for reading and your consideration.
